Scholarship Amounts: up to $5,000

Since 1983 the Foundation of the Association of Energy Engineers (FAEE) with its Scholarship Program has encouraged qualified scholars in energy management, energy engineering, and sustainability to further education in these fields. At FAEE we are proud to support energy and sustainability engineers who are eager to make a positive and meaningful difference in the world by investing in their educational future. The AEE Foundation is a 501©(3) non-profit organization which has awarded more than $950,000 in scholarships to more than 1900 students to date.

Rocky Mountain Chapter of AEE (RMAEE) has a good track record with its nominated candidates frequently receiving AEE Foundation scholarships. RMAEE and a local sponsor – Iconergy – have at times supplemented AEE scholarship amounts. Students are now eligible for enhanced scholarships through the combined AEE Foundation–Iconergy-RMAEE scholarship!

Accepting Applications

RMAEE begins accepting applications for consideration beginning March 1st each year, with applications due by April 15th.

Eligibility

Scholarships are available to candidates obtaining their undergraduate or graduate degrees who are enrolled in an accredited Colorado college or university focusing on energy engineering, energy management, or sustainability. Colorado residency is not required, although applicants should be at sophomore standing or above for the 2025-2026 academic year. Scholarship funds are to be used for courses directly related to energy engineering, energy management, and/or sustainability, preferably within the curriculum leading to a major or minor in energy engineering.

Applying for Scholarships

All individual applicants must be nominated by a local AEE Chapter. We begin accepting applications March 1st. All scholarship forms must be sent electronically to the Rocky Mountain Chapter Scholarship Committee by April 15, 2026. Note that there is an on-line application form on the AEE Foundation website; it is not necessary to submit this form as long as the same information is submitted to [email protected]

Fill out the student application and complete all supporting documents.

Step 3

Submit your completed application form with supporting documents ELECTRONICALLY to the Rocky Mountain AEE (RMAEE) chapter for nomination: RMAEE Scholarship Committee [email protected]

Step 4

The RMAEE Chapter Scholarship Committee will select up to six students to compete at the national level and will complete the Chapter Recommendation for Scholarship Nominees form and submit it along with your application documents to the AEE Foundation Scholarship Chair. The RMAEE Scholarship Committee only has 10 days to complete this process so it is critical that applicants submit their full application packages by the 4/15/26 deadline.

Step 5

The AEE Foundation will notify applicants and RMAEE Chapter Scholarship Chair of results on or about August 1, 2026.
